FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Contact: Danny Kopelson Center on Halsted, 773/472-6469, ext. 178 dkopelson@centeronhalsted.org CENTER ON HALSTED PARTNERS WITH SPERTUS INSTITUTE OF JEWISH STUDIES FOR AN AUTHOR EVENT WITH GAY AUTHOR EVAN FALLENBERG JULY 12, 2009 Chicago— June 22, 2009 — As part of the OUTwrite literary series at Center on Halsted will partner with Spertus Institute of Jewish Studies, Chicago’s Jewish educational and cultural center, for an author reading and discussion of Light Fell by Evan Fallenberg on Sunday, July 12, 2009 at 2:00 PM at Spertus. Spertus is located at 610 S. Michigan Avenue. Light Fell explores what happens when love, faith, and desire pull in fiercely different directions. Set in a religious farming community and in secular Tel Aviv, the book follows the story of Joseph Licht as he prepares for a first-time Sabbath reunion with his five grown sons, 20 years after leaving his old life behind in favor of a scandalous relationship with a dynamic young Orthodox rabbi. Fallenberg will talk about his experience of religion, literature, and sexuality in Israel and how this has impacted his writing. A book signing will follow.
