Manager, Development Services and Operations

JOB TITLE: Manager, Development Services and Operations
REPORT TO: Director of Development
POSTION STATUS: Exempt
Job Summary:
The Manager of Development Services and Operations is responsible for the implementation of the systems, policies and procedures that ensure the Development Department is operating in an efficient manner. The position reports to the Director, Individual Giving and Development Services.
Essential Functions:
- Implement best practices related to gift processing, acknowledgements, recognition, donor records, stewardship, information tracking and reports.
- Process all gifts, gift acknowledgments, fulfillment and receipts in a timely manner.
- Maintain accurate and timely records, reports and files.
- Ensure gifts are entered into Raiser's Edge in an accurate and timely manner.
- Ensure the accuracy of the data and files in Raiser’s Edge.
- Be proficient in the use of Raiser’s Edge as a tool to advance the organization’s fundraising efforts.
- Produce reports, donor histories, mailing lists, event information, etc. as requested by Development staff.
- Respond to donor requests/provide “donor customer service.”
- Assist with the planning and execution of donor stewardship activities.
- Reconcile monthly with accounting department.
- Provide support for Development staff as needed.
- Provide support for Director of Development as liaison to Development and Board Development/Nominating committees.
- Write and edit materials for a variety of communications vehicles (i.e., newsletter, annual report, website, etc.) as needed.
- Assume special projects or other activities as requested by the Director of Individual Giving and Development Services.
- Able to provide support as needed for special events and donor cultivation and stewardship events.
- Remain current on new programs and initiatives in the development profession through independent study and participation in workshops/conferences.
Job Qualifications and Experience:
- Two to three years experience in a non-profit environment.
- Superior computer skills and knowledge including word processing, database operations, spreadsheets and on-line research tools – proficiency in Raiser’s Edge required.
- Strong attention to detail, ability to be organized, able to prioritize.
- Superior planning and implementation skills.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Self-starter, team player and quality manager.
- Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with people of diverse races, ethnicities, ages and sexual orientations in a multicultural environment.
- Ability to work comfortably and effectively with donors, volunteers, staff and diverse community groups.
- Ability to adapt to and work effectively within a variety of situations.
- Ability to communicate the mission of the organization with enthusiasm and passion.
