Join Center on Halsted and Bisexual-Queer Alliance Chicago for a panel discussion with some prominent activists for the Bi community.  Panelists include Alisa Swindell, Greg Storms, and Daina Almario-Kopp. 

Panelist bios are listed below:

Alisa Swindell

Alisa is an activist educator working at the crossroads of art and sociology with a focus on race and sexuality. She’s been out and active since the early 90’s, having been involved in several sex positive activist communities. She is currently working on bi visibility in the leather community. 

Greg Storms

Greg Storms is a doctoral candidate in cultural anthropology and LGBTQ studies. He moved to Chicago four years ago to conduct anthropological research on Chicago’s queer male fetish communities and loved the city so much he decided to stay. As he finishes his graduate education and looks for permanent employment in LGBTQ advocacy, Greg spends his extra time teaching anthropology in the suburbs and bartending in Boystown. 

Daina Almario-Kopp 

As an undergraduate, Daina Almario-Kopp was an honor student in Gender and Women’s Studies at UIC and she is currently a graduate school candidate for Biological Sciences, aiming to obtain a Ph.D. She has worked as a research assistant at UIC, as a PR representative for BiQuest (the bisexual student group at UIC), as an education and research officer for BQAC, and she is the author and publisher of two widely read blogs ( and In addition to her scientific interests, she is also a linguist (speaks 5 languages), an international LGBTQI rights activist (with strong ties to groups in Germany, Russia, Lithuania, Colombia, and the U.K.), and she was a recent discussion panelist at “Sherlock 101,” a conference hosted by the Chicago Nerd Social Club, where she discussed issues related to sexuality and the media.
