DESCRIPTION
Center on Halsted hosts several peer-led Community Groups who meet regularly for discussion, activity, and socializing. The Center provides a supportive space for these groups to gather and collaborate within the LGBTQ and Allied communities. Community groups are closed to researchers, students attending in an academic capacity, reporters, and other observers. If you fall into one of these categories, Center On Halsted may be able to support your project in other ways; please email communitygroups@centeronhalsted.org . You also may be interested in the educational opportunities posted here: http://www.centeronhalsted.org/requestspeaker/ .
Founded in 1972 with the simple act of a mother publicly supporting her gay son, PFLAG is the nation's largest family and ally organization. Uniting people who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) with families, friends, and allies, PFLAG is committed to advancing equality and full societal affirmation of LGBTQ people through its threefold mission of support, education, and advocacy. Our meetings are informative and open to all who wish to participate. We foster an environment where friends and supporters of PFLAG gather to form a community of help and mutual understanding.
PRICE FREE, but your support of PFLAG is welcomed. Annual membership in PFLAG is $45 per household or at whatever level they can afford. Donations for attendance at individual meetings is also welcomed.
