Center on Halsted hosts the following signature events to educate the broader community about our work and to help raise the funds for our diverse and impactful programs and services. Through these events, we acknowledge the great contributions of our benefactors, event partners/sponsors, and our shared work to build and strengthen the LGBTQ community for generations to come.

Each year Center on Halsted hosts its signature Human First Performance & Gala to recognize the contributions of individuals, businesses and other organizations to the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer community in Chicago.
Human First provides an opportunity to reflect upon and celebrate past accomplishments, while we look forward to the work ahead as we continue to build a human first work, together. In addition to raising vital funds to support Center on Halsted programs and services, the Human First Award and Community Spirit Award will be presented to several outstanding civic leaders for their important contributions to the advancement of Chicago’s LGBTQ movement.

Center on Halsted is home to two art galleries which showcase different LGBTQ artists from the community. You can view the galleries on the second and third floors during normal business hours or join us for our opening night receptions, occurring approximately every six weeks, where you can mix and mingle with other community members and meet the featured artists. There is a suggested donation of $5 at the gallery openings to support Center on Halsted’s programming. A cash bar is available during the openings on the third floor.
Check our calendar for upcoming gallery openings. Some notable artists featured in our gallery have included Lily Wachowski, Sandra Antongiorgi, and the Orlando Traveling Memorial.
