Mental Health First Aid teaches you how to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental illness and substance use disorders. This training gives you the skills you need to reach out and provide initial support to someone who may be developing a mental health or substance use problem and help connect them to the care. The course covers common signs and symptoms of mental illness and substance use, how to interact with a person in crisis, how to connect them with help, and how to care for yourself while caring for others. This course is a $170 Value, but will cost $40 through Center on Halsted.
The course will be taught virtually. Participants will need to complete a 2-hour, self-paced online class in advance and then will complete a virtual instructor lead training. The self-paced online class must be completed in order to participate in the virtual training.
Please sign up by the Monday prior to the event to ensure you can complete the 2-hour self-paced online course prior to attending the full course on that upcoming Friday course.
