As access to gender affirming surgeries has increased, demand for letter of support for surgery from mental health professionals expanded. This training will prepare mental health professional to support individuals seeking letters, while utilizing a client centered approach that trusts trans individuals to know their own needs. Topics covered will include a brief history of medical intervention for trans individuals, basic surgery information, and a structure to assist individuals with a letter while also respecting their autonomy and self-knowledge. While letters must be written by mental health professionals with a clinical license, individuals at all stages of training and licensure are welcome to attend. Participants will be expected to have a basic knowledge of trans terminology as this will not be a trans 101 training.
