Since 2005, Center on Halsted has hosted WERQ!, the largest LGBTQ-focused job fair in the Midwest. This event, which is free and open to the public, is an opportunity for the community to come together and explore career opportunities with business, agencies and organizations that are inclusive and safe for the LGBTQ community. WERQ! provides valuable exposure for your brand/business and offers an opportunity for you to reinforce your brand’s commitment and to reach this key audience.

The Center’s WERQ! LGBTQ Job Fair events are not only great for the attendee but are an effective way of meeting and recruiting LGBTQ job candidates for your business. Supporting lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer individuals in the workforce proves that your business understands that commerce includes care and support for the community. Your support increases awareness and visibility for all Chicagoans - the 2021 job fair helped connect 200+ members of the LGBTQ community and allies with 49 affirming major corporations, small businesses, government agencies and non-profits.

There are two ways you can be involved with the Center on Halsted’s WERQ! LGBTQ Job Fair: Exhibitor and Sponsorship

Exhibitor: WERQ! offers a unique chance to educate job seekers about your business, collect resumes, conduct interviews, and recruit from within the LGBTQ+ community.

Sponsorship: In addition to the above, sponsorship offers your company numerous additional benefits including logo recognition & website link, email and social media posts, preferred exhibit hall location, and the ability to provide a community workshop (Leader and Advocate Levels only).

Exhibitors are encouraged to bring your organization’s branded table cloth, marketing swag, booth decorations, and banners. All materials must fit within your 8X8 space, so as not to encroach upon your neighbor’s area. You are responsible for your own snacks, foods, and beverages.

Center on Halsted is the most comprehensive lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) community center in the Midwest, and we strive to meet the social, recreational and cultural needs of people of all ages in a safe and nurturing environment. Every day, more than 1,000 people walk through the doors of our 65,000-square foot building, which includes a gym, theater, computer lab, two art galleries and a rooftop garden. We offer a variety of social services and public programs, including mental health services, support groups, and free HIV testing 7 days a week.
